VLAN interfaces (VLAN tagging) allow for the isolation of logical network architectures at OSI layer 2 over the same physical NIC interface, each with its independent routing table. Learn how to configure and manage VLAN interfaces below.
VLAN Interfaces List #
This table displays all the VLAN interfaces configured in the system.
Actions available for selected interfaces:
- Create VLAN. Opens a VLAN form to create a new VLAN interface.
- Bring up. Starts the interface and configures it to accept traffic.
- Edit. Modifies VLAN configuration, including IP address, MAC address, netmask, and gateway.
- Bring down. Shuts down the interface and stops it from accepting traffic.
- Delete. Clears the configuration and removes the VLAN interface.
VLAN table columns #
Name. Name of the VLAN interface, indicating the parent NIC, bonding, and VLAN tag.
Alias. A descriptive name for easy identification within a farm or other services.
IP. Network-layer IP address of the VLAN interface if configured, supporting IPv4 and IPv6.
MAC. Link-layer address of the VLAN interface, inherited from the parent NIC or bonding if not configured.
Netmask. Subnet mask of the VLAN interface, configurable only if the IP address is also configured.
Gateway. Default gateway used by the VLAN interface if configured, must be on the same subnet.
Status. Indicates the status of the VLAN interface:
- Green. Interface is UP.
- Red. Interface is DOWN.
