In this section, you’ll learn how to modify the configuration settings of a NIC.
Global Networking NIC Settings #
Below are the Global Settings to adjust the configuration of a NIC.
Name. The system name of the physical interface. This field is not editable.
IP Address. Network-layer IP address of the NIC. Supports IPv4 and IPv6. This field is mandatory, and if DHCP is disabled, the Netmask/CIDR field must also be configured.
Netmask/CIDR. Subnet mask of the NIC. Supports Network mask format or CIDR (0 to 32 bits) for IPv4, or CIDR format (0 to 128 bits) for IPv6. This field is mandatory, and if DHCP is disabled, the IP Address field must also be set.
Gateway. Default gateway in IPv4/IPv6 format used by the NIC.
MAC. Link-layer MAC address assigned to the NIC by its vendor. This field is not editable.
Alias. Interface alias for easy access when configuring services.
DHCP. Enable or disable the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) for the NIC. If enabled, static IP configuration is not allowed, requiring a reachable DHCP server.
Both IPv4 and IPv6 stacks are supported, with the Netmask and Gateway configured within the same stack as the IP. After making all necessary changes, click the Apply button to apply the new settings.
