Release Notes

RELIANOID 8.3.1 introduces a series of performance, stability, and security enhancements across the platform, reflecting our ongoing commitment to enterprise-grade reliability and efficiency.

This version brings significant improvements to system management and automation. The cluster engine has been refined with better file cleanup and destroy logic, reducing residual data after disbandment. System behavior has also been optimized, including enhanced detection mechanisms, streamlined service reload logic, and improved handling of lock and temporary files. In addition, RELIANOID services are now automatically enabled following activation certificate installation, simplifying post-deployment workflows.

Cloud deployment processes have also been improved, making setup faster and more robust. LDAP integration has seen key refinements as well—diagnostic messages are now more informative, and verbosity has been reduced for non-critical logs to improve clarity. Within the SSL module, the CSR (Certificate Signing Request) generation process has been refactored for better maintainability and usability. Systemd support has been extended with a new option to reload RELIANOID services, and status monitoring of internal services has been enhanced within the web interface (noid-bui).

A key addition in this release is the update of the BSP (Board Support Package) to version 8, ensuring continued compatibility and improved performance on supported hardware platforms. This update lays the foundation for future hardware support and better integration with system-level features.

On the security front, this release includes fixes for a wide array of vulnerabilities, with a strong emphasis on resolving high-severity CVEs. Notable fixes include CVE-2024-38428, which addressed a memory corruption issue in regular expression handling that could potentially lead to remote code execution. CVE-2025-1094 patched a race condition in cryptographic routines, while CVE-2023-2610 and CVE-2023-4752 resolved buffer overflow and use-after-free vulnerabilities in compression and TLS libraries, respectively. Other critical vulnerabilities addressed include CVE-2023-5344 (a privilege escalation issue in PAM), CVE-2024-9681 (a container sandbox escape flaw), and CVE-2025-21490 (a kernel-level denial-of-service vulnerability). Additionally, CVE-2024-37020, a serious issue in systemd’s handling of unit files, has been mitigated to prevent unauthorized privilege escalation.

This release also includes bug fixes in LDAP authentication workflows and DNS server configuration within global settings, both of which contribute to a more robust and predictable deployment environment.

RELIANOID 8.3.1 continues to raise the bar for secure, resilient, and manageable application delivery. As always, we encourage users to upgrade to benefit from these latest enhancements.
